I did it, sleeping on a hidden campground in the nature
A while back Marion and I closed a deal for staying on a legal nature campground in the Netherlands. So we packed our bags and we were ready for our adventure in the Dutch forest. You can think of dancing around a campfire, rain, a breathtaking sunset, lots of mosquitoes and awesome photographs.
The location: Chaamse Bossen 1
Chaamse bossen 1 is the location we’ve camped – Yes it is a legal place – it is located nearby Breda, The Netherlands (in Dutch: Paalkamperen). Not accessible by car so you have to park your car somewhere. So you have to walk to the campsite. One tip: Start your navigation otherwise you won’t find it. Because the campsite is located on a hidden spot. You can’t pack your bags and go to the closest forest and randomly pick a place for your tent. There are legal places available and rules for these campsites.
It was raining cats and dogs
After we set up our tents and took some photographs – Yes, we’re still bloggers haha -. You have to admit you like the photographs we took. I’m kinda proud of these photographs. But it started to rain and we fled to Marion’s tent. It was raining harder and harder and we saw flashes and immediately heard thunder. Brrrr, I am so afraid of thunder and especially when I’m sitting in a tent. Also, I was worried about my tent but luckily everything inside my tent stayed dry. And we have survived the storm.
Lots of mosquitoes and ticks
We were on the mosquito menu that night. I think they tought ‘Ohh look that tasty snacks over there. Yummy!” The damage was Marion: 13 mosquito bites and Jamie 30 mosquito bites haha. But there were other uninvited guests namely ticks … We saw them crawling around on our legs, brrr. We changed our shorts for long jeans. But unfortunately, it hasn’t helped and we both had a tick on our body. But we’re still alive!
Dancing around the campfire with marshmallows
We we’re laughing, dancing around the campfire and enjoying our adventure until late. Around two o’clock we decided to go to sleep. It was beautiful to see the forest change from day to night!
Magical morning light
Around 8 am I heard Marion whisper “Jamie, are you awake?”. We opend our tents open and we were greeted by the morning sun shining magicly through the trees. Enjoy moment number 101. After some refreshening, we sat around the campfire for a breakfast. “Good morning!” two mountain bikers passed by in the distance. Furthermore, we haven’t seen other people. Our only neighbor was a Great spotted woodpecker sitting in a tree and cute mini frogs in the ditch. At 10 o’clock we had packed our stuff, and headed back to the car. The end of our night in the Dutch woods. Another awesome adventure I can cross off my bucket list.
