First time on the slopes: Saalbach Hinterglemm
Many digital nomads choose a sunny destination. But have you ever thought about spending time on the slopes? This was my first time – ever – skiing and hitting the slopes.
First time on the slopes
Before Sjoerd and a few friends came up with this winter sports idea I was like “Oh hell no, I’ve never skied before! Never ever going to happen”. But I like to challenge myself and I love new adventures so I gave the whole winter sports idea a chance. So we booked a trip to Saalbach Hinterglemm in Austria. After a few lessons in the Netherlands and a private lesson in Austria I was ready to hit the blue ski trails. And I must admit I really enjoyed being on the slopes! Soon I’ll share all my tips for people who are planning on hitting the slopes for the first time.
Winter sports gear
But before you hit the slopes you’ll have to buy ski/snowboard jackets and pants. We wore and stole the show in O’neill’s retro ski collection during our trip to Austria. From the dance floor to the slopes, the 1970s were a time of free spirits and freestyling. And so Sjoerd and I did ;)!
It’s important to invest in a good goggle because one day we’ll have sunny weather and another day it can snow. We both received a goggle from Dragon Alliance and I must admit during snow, mist and sunny weather my sight was always good. I had the Dragon Luma Lens which offers clarity and contrast, allowing you to see more, react faster and perform better. Sjoerd had the Dragon X1 Transition lens which automatically change tints in response to changing sunlight and weather conditions, eliminating the need to swap goggles or change lenses.
