5 things I would love to do in South Africa
Woohoo happiest girl alive! Last week I received amazing news. For people who don’t know where I’m talking about. I won two flight tickets to South Africa and a Canon EOS M5. Wow, can someone squeeze me? Like really did I won this? I still can’t believe it! A dream is coming true.
I participated a instagram contest hosted by MijnZuidAfrika and Sizoo Brothers. You could post a photograph from your trip to South Africa on instagram. But they gave people who never visited South Africa before also a chance. These people could post a picture from someone else – ofcourse including credits to the photographer – they would love to remake including a motivation. I chose a picture from the South African photographer Louw Lemmer. You should check his instagram, his work is amazing!
Q: Does anyone know if it’s allowed to take your drone with you in South Africa and in a plane?
Sjoerd and I don’t know when we’re heading to South Africa yet. We are thinking of driving the ‘Garden route‘. And we’re way too excited and we can’t wait to go. I searched on Pinterest and Instagram for some inspiration. So here’s a selection of 5 things I would love to do:
#1 Chapman’s Peak Drive
The photograph I won this competition with is made on this location. So I accept the challenge to drive/hike Chapman’s Peak Drive and to remake this photograph in my own style. Can’t wait!
#2 Swimming with penguins
I just love animals and being around them. So I can’t wait to head to Boulders Beach and walk, swim and have a little chit chat with African penguins. Yes I have this weird habit of talking to animals haha. I’ve spotted a underwater ‘case’ for my camera. Thinking of ordering it so I can make magical underwater photographs.
#3 Spotting Elephants and lions
Addo Elephant National Park is the third biggest national park in the country. And it’s a sanctuary for more than 600 animals, including elephants, lions, buffaloes, rhinos, hyenas, leopards, antelopes and zebras. Not to mention the various species of birds that fly there.
#4 Horseback riding in Overberg
Or any other trail. A popular way of exploring our beaches while at the same time giving riders a chance to learn about and bond with these magnificent creatures. I really love horses since I was a little girl so can’t wait to climb back in the saddle. Hopefully I saved enough money to buy a GoPro. So I can make video’s and photographs during this (underwater) adventure and other adventures.
#5 Driving the Garden route
The Garden Route is a stretch of the south-western coast of South Africa which extends from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape to the Storms River in the Eastern Cape. Driving a Land Rover Devender, Yes I keep on dreaming haha. With highlights as Knysna, Tsitsikamma National Park and Fynbos.
Q: Have your ever visited South Africa before? If the answer is yes I’m curious what you’re tips, must sees and hotspots are.
